Funerals
When somebody we love dies, it is a heartbreaking time. We are grieving, and yet there is so much to be done and many decisions to be made. It can be overwhelming and hard to manage.

A Christian Funeral
A funeral with Christian values attached can alleviate worry and can be tailored to the needs and wishes of your loved one. It can also hold those timeless words of hope and comfort found in the teachings of the Bible. Your loved one may have lived in the parish or had a strong link with Holy Redeemer Church, through baptism, marriage or engaging in its community even if that link was a while ago. We will be honoured to conduct their funeral, whether or not they attended church regularly. If you like the church setting, have been to a funeral conducted by Reverend Mell, or would like a familiar face or reassurance we are there to help make this happen.
Who to contact?
Contact the Vicar and then let the Funeral Directors know you have made contact with us and the dates you wish to arrange it for. They will find the appropriate slot nearest to this for the crematorium or cemetery, arrange the practical details and answer many of your questions.
The thanksgiving part can take place in the church itself if you would like this. This can be less rushed, more personal and warm. You do not need to be a religious person or a devout worshipper. There is a better sense of hope in the promises of God's Kingdom in heaven. The service can be lively and bright, traditional or solemn. Your loved one will be the only funeral on that day. Flowers can be left in a meaningful place. Candles can be lit. The church has facilities for music, audio, visual and outdoor green space and we have a pianist.
We can also conduct services at the local crematoriums as well and this might be more preferable.
Personal Support
The Vicar will meet with you and the family at a place of your choosing either in your home, at the vicarage or in one of our church buildings to provide care and understanding, chat and help you decide on the order of the service.
You will be asked to choose some music, readings or poems and provide some words and memories about your loved one for the tribute. A family member, friend or the vicar can read this. Depending on your needs and the time available, we will follow up with a phone call or email to finalise the arrangements.
If you would like to chat, arrange a funeral or you have lost a loved one and need support please do contact Reverend Mell directly on 0208 300 1508 or email: vicar@theholyredeemer.co.uk and leave your contact details. You can also make an enquiry by completing this form.
The church is open in the day to light candles and remember loved ones.
May you be comforted as we hold you in our prayers at this difficult time π
